"Unable to locate the region" pop-up with maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/
complete

When going to https://maps.secondlife.com/ it defaults to showing the area around Ahern in old Sansara (also displaying the Destination Guide Picks on the left side). However, if using https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ then the same area is shown but a pop-up appears, as in the screenshot below, saying: We are unable to locate the region "Ahern"
This seems like unwanted behavior. It should show the same thing (and the DG Picks) with either URL, without the pop-up, especially since we're not actually able to specify a region with only the base URL but need to have "secondlife/" there when doing so.
As an aside, do we really
need
that additional path? Could we change it so that people could just type something like maps.secondlife.com/Ahern/ and have it find a particular region that way too, maybe through a server-side URL redirect/rewrite?I know the Map API links to some resources stored at https://maps.secondlife.com/examples/ (which could potentially create a conflict) but perhaps those could be moved elsewhere. There may well be a good reason for the "secondlife/" path to still be required and for why this can't be changed. It just seems a little redundant.

As of today, it is not possible to search maps.secondlife.com by region name. This is interesting because when I tried this I did get 2 listings in the sidebar. One was a region island and the other was on the mainland. I and several others would like the ability to put in a region name in the search bar and have that region appear on the map https://gyazo.com/6c2d917da98942a0607ac05f6c4a0327

Erik Mondrian It seems we deployed the fix for this around September of last year, and testing I don't seem to be able to repro the issue. I'm going to close this as Complete unless you are still seeing this issue.

Juniper Linden Thanks, Juniper! It looks like maps.secondlife.com/secondlife just redirects to the base URL now, basically "solving" the issue. As I mentioned in my original post, though, I'm still wondering why the additional "secondlife" path is even necessary when looking up regions. Do you know if there's a good reason for it to be there? Could it be simplified, so that maps.secondlife.com/<region_name> would work too?

Erik Mondrian you know, I can't say I know the historical reason as to why
secondlife/
was added for regions. I have a "swag" as to why but my quick poking in the code wasn't enough to verify yay/naySo bc of that, I don't really have a good answer as to "if its easy" or not. I can ask around to see if I can find someone with the historical knowledge, but I imagine there was _some_ reason for it.

While browsing the examples page, I found that in the final example, "Linking to a Second Life Coordinate" at https://maps.secondlife.com/examples/example-goto-sl-url.php the links don't work. There is a script error: "Uncaught ReferenceError: Mustache is not defined"
