Avatar Floater, My Outfits Tab, Filter Outfits Textbox: results are inconsistent
complete
Wendy Nitely
I began with a fresh Avatar floater, fresh from a login. I filtered for "Tori" and got a complete list of the outfits with "Tori" in the name of the outfit or contents with "Tori" in the item name.:
If I clear the textbox using the X tool at the right end of the box and type in "!L", the result will be the complete list of the 100 or so outfits including those characters in the name (or contents).
If I then type
over
the text in the now yellow
textbox (not clearing first with the X tool), typing "Tori" I get at subset of the complete list. A list containing only those items in the previously
filtered list. This is an example of a case that is easily reproduced. However there are numerous cases I cannot explain. For example when starting with a new filter
after clearing
the textbox and not getting the complete list of known
instances.[2025-03-29: in some cases when known items exist in outfits and are not found in the filter, relogging occasionally corrects the issue. However I've got 46 outfits that contain an item, none of which are found using the filter; even after multiple relogs.]
This has also been occurring for months in previous releases of the SL viewer.
I see the same failure scenario in a recent release of Firestorm.

Hi Wendy.
This sounds like you are seeing this bug: https://github.com/secondlife/viewer/issues/4283.
If you log in and wait for the Inventory to load completely before opening the Avatar floater, does the Avatar floater work fine?
Wendy Nitely
Hi Dan,
I had real hopes this was it, that I was experiencing the bug you mentioned. But I am uncertain. I went to the region where I do all my outfit work, and regularly see the issue I am reporting (Freyo).
Using Second Life Release 7.1.15.15596336374 (64bit), I went through the repro steps listed in the github a dozen times and I cannot reproduce the issue I am reporting.
So... yes if I wait for the Inventory to load completely before opening the Avatar floater, the Avatar floater works fine!
But also if I perform the repro steps in #4283, it also works... (my inventory is about 123k items). In fact I've never had it fail immediately upon logging in, which is why I doubt it's the same issue.
My experience is that the Avatar floater tab contents degrades over time, and that a relog and immediate inspection of the Avatar floater tab has
always
shown correct results...Dan Linden
Wendy Nitely: Thanks for checking. I'm going to assume for now that this is related to https://github.com/secondlife/viewer/issues/4283 and we can check again after that fix goes out in the 2025.06 viewer.
Tracked in https://github.com/secondlife/viewer/issues/4283.

Second Life Release 7.1.15.15596336374 (64bit):
It seems like the My Outfits tab entries correct themselves upon logging in, I've not fully tested this, but the pattern is there. The outfit's apparent contents degrade while logged in, however my recent experiences is immediately after a log in, the ones I'm interested in (generally the one I am
wearing
is corrected.Wendy Nitely
Simply put, the My Outfits tab doesn't stay in sync with the Wearing tab. It falls out of sync as as far as I can tell, never recovers.

I've been continuing to look at this issue as I use the Second Life viewer (my primary viewer of choice). I'm now running Second Life Release 7.1.14.15192634334 (64bit). As time goes by I notice that some outfits in my Avatar Floater's "My Outfits" Tab continue to miss items from the outfit's contents. The missing items seem to be only objects (not BOM textures, etc.)
When I wear an outfit from the "My Outfits" Tab the complete (original) contents are always worn, and the items in the "Wearing" Tab reflect this. (Also the "missing" objects show the correct number of links when checking them in the Inventory floater.)
The only way I've been able to get an outfit in the "My Outfits" tab refreshed to reflect what is really in the outfit is to force a save by performing a Save As. (The "Save changes" button is not enabled... as no changes have actually been made.)
After doing this, the (new) saved outfit's contents correctly reflect the stored outfit and match what is shown in the Wearing tab. The original outfit contents in the "My Outfits" tab is still missing objects, but the missing items are still worn (both the original and the (new) saved outfit result in the same items being worn).
I hope this additional and perhaps clarified information is helpful. I might be worth noting again that I've experienced the same issue in firestorm. There seems to be an opportunity for My Outfits tab be become unassociated with that is actually worn.
