This happens to me too! It's frustrating, and feels dangerous.

I've been watching the block list loading on the beta Firestorm 7.2.2.79281 version for a week now and there haven't been any failled yet.
Finally I can log in on the first try. Thanks for the long-awaited fix.

IME this doesn't affect everyone. I, for example, don't have the problem. I'm not sure if it's related to what's actually blocked or the health of the associated file stored on the server. Clearing/renaming that cached_mute file does seem to work, but that IMHO is more a short-term bandaid and not a long-term fix. I do hope a better solution is on the way.

Clearing the cache has not worked for me. The only thing that has is relogging until the block list loads.

Sparkie Dragonash Try a manual clear cache, works every time for me. Preferences > Network & Files > Directories tab > Cache location - Click open on that line.. With the folder open, log out of SL and delete every single folder and file in there. Then log in. Should work perfect for you. Then you can do my new normal, I just leave that folder open all the time, and clear it out before logging in. :) It works way way better than clicking the clear cache button in preferences. Hope it works for you as good as it does for me.

Tangwystyl Gwynneville I'm late to finding this canny, but cache has NOTHING to do with the avatar blacklist, it's stored on LL servers.
Tangwystyl Gwynneville
Melody OwO Yes, but oddly enough clear cache is an instant fix of the issue rather than what others are doing logging in over and over until the block list populates. It works first time every time, for a long time now. Why it works I don't know but it does, this is why I suggest it. (edited to add) Also the file that has an issue in our cache location does come from LL servers. 3de548e1-57be-cfea-2b78-83ae3ad95998.cached_mute We just do not get it properly or it corrupts on log out. For some reason clear cache allows it to load and work properly.

This happens to me about 90% of the time when I log in. A cleared cache does always resolve the issue for me*, but is an annoying inconvenience that frankly doesn't make any sense, since the block list is stored server side and my cache is obviously local. When this issue occurs, my L balance also loads as ???, and that also resolves without needing a refresh click if I clear my viewer cache. I contacted Firestorm support today to seek assistance and was directed here.

I was able to reproduce this. Here's my log file. It is missing this line: newview/llmutelist.cpp(793) LLMuteList::processUseCachedMuteList : LLMuteList::processUseCachedMuteList()

Atlas Linden Hi Atlas, I was just wondering if there were any new developments on this issue. Thanks :)
Atlas Linden
For those that are experiencing this issue, are you able to try out the following Second Life Viewer build to see if the problem reproduces? There is a recent integrated fix that may resolve this.

Atlas Linden Since today's rolling restart, I've intentionally relogged a few times and haven't encountered the previously reported issue (empty blocklist). It seems the glitch in the system is gone. Hopefully others are seeing similar results. Thank you for your tireless work.

Atlas Linden Hi Atlas, I am glad to see this issue under review now. I am going to watch what others experiences are on testing since I am lost on SL viewer. I don't think I've used it since 2007 or so. For me (even tho it's probably not best practice) deleting everything in the firestorm folder before log in works perfectly every time, no having to log in over and over again. Just the dreaded wait time for inv to populate, but that seems easier than numerous log ins. If I can, I will try the SL viewer this weekend. Thank you for helping all of us who are having this issue.

Atlas Linden, Hello, I tested the version of the viewer you suggested Second_Life_Develop 7.1.14.16282980331 x86 64. It didn't help me, the block list loading is still unstable every other time.
Atlas Linden
Annryk Resident We would appreciate your logs if you're willing to send them to us. I have instructions to do so in my latest comment above.

On April 24, 2025 I filed Firestorm JIRA https://jira.firestormviewer.org/browse/FIRE-35431 which gives a lot of detail regarding this bug. It also affects chat, notifications, groups settings (don't receive IM/group notices), as well as the block list disappearing. The only way around it so far is to keep relogging until everything loads. It might load today and tomorrow not. I am on FS nightly 566 and it is very much alive and well here.
For those residents who have stalkers this is a major problem.
Rowan Alpha
Sparkie Dragonash yes, it is :( I might not have even noticed it wasn't working if those dreaded DM tabs didn't start popping up, because apparently I have some very dedicated creeps who still check for access to me despite literal years on my block list.
