Cannot create a link to an empty notecard

Create a new notecard in your inventory somewhere. Right click to copy it. Go to another folder and right click, select paste as link.
Nothing happens.
If you edit the notecard so it has something in it (a single x for instance), you can do paste as link just fine. You can also then edit the notecard so it has nothing in it again, and the link carries on working.

Thanks for the report, Hilary.
This issue is now tracked at https://github.com/secondlife/viewer/issues/2818 for further investigation.

not sure how to respond to stuff on github but I did see a message saying "just block it without explanation". Why not a message please? that's going to be just as confusing.Atlas Linden
Hi Hilary, a dialog is expected to popup stating: "You must save the notecard before creating a link to it."

This is probably by design: an empty notecard "does not exist" and has no associated asset, scripts will error out too attempting to read from an empty notecard. Once you give it content, it becomes something.

But it does exist - it's in my inventory and I can see it there. It even has a name.
If it didn't exist I shouldn't be able to see it.

Hilary Querrien The entry in your inventory with a name exists: what it points to does not. This is quite unique to empty notecards which have no associated asset. Like the github comments suggest, it looks like they're just planning to add a "you must save the notecard before you can link to it" popup.

Frionil Fang thanks. still confused by this, but i'm not a computer person.
