I can reproduce this bug & it doesn't reproduce on the pre-PBR viewer.
Simple Repro
- Rez 2 default box prims
- Box A, leave as default plywood
- Box B, set the diffuse Blinn-phong texture to "Hair Stright Thick" from the Library
- Box B, Set Alpha mode to alpha mask with a mask cutoff of 5
- Link Box A & Box B with Box A as root.
- Edit the linkset and observe that you can change the alpha mode between None, blend and mask as expected
- Unlink the boxes and relink with Box B as root
- Edit the linkset and observe you cannot change the alpha mode.
Bug does not reproduce on the LL pre-PBR viewer https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer/6.6.16.6566955269.html

Hello yeng.
If I have the repro steps correct, this is working fine for me on Second Life Release 7.2.2.18475198968 (64bit)
What viewer are you using? Please leave a comment with the info from Help > About Second Life
If this is a bug only in the Firestorm viewer, please leave a bug report on the Firestorm jira, https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/file_a_jira

Dan Linden I'm not yeng...but as I mentioned already. It is the linked Prim that prevents it. Selecting the Dinkie only works fine.
Viewer used:
Second Life Release 7.2.2.18475198968 (64bit)
Both (Dinkie & linked Prim) selected:
Only Dinke (edit linked) selected:
The "issue" here is that it worked with the older viewers in both situations.
But to repeat myself again...the issue is with the prim and how it is handled between the viewer versions.
Dan Linden
Nofu Nagy: Thank you for the explanation and a possible workaround for everyone.
Where can I get/buy a copy of that Dinkie?
Nofu Nagy
Dan Lindenhttps://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/8884 but I think Etheria Parrott (the creator of the Dinkies and also active here) will send you one Etheria Parrott to get the issue solved.
Dan Linden
Nofu Nagy: Thank you. I have one.

This is a big deal to a lot of creators and their customers. PLEASE FIX! because we can't!

Here is an image from viewer 6 so you can compare. Can you imagine that some avatars have even more materials and linked parts? Often 64 or so. I expect they would not want to edit linked parts then select each face just to set alpha masking when a simple right click could set the whole object at once.

Please fix this issue!

i know there maybe a way to do it but there are al reddy designers that have notes within the outfits how to do it the way before so it needs to be solved as it was before on the old viewer as we think this is a glitch

Creator here asking for your help in repairing this very big error.. in a timly fashion would be great..

The whole Dinkie can still be set to alpha masking. But not the Prim called "Plane". The Dinkie Body has 2 Links. Link1 is the body, Link2 the plane prim.
If via "Edit linked" the body is selected only, it can be changed to Alpha Masking.
I don't know what the purpose of this 2nd prim called "Plane" is. Maybe the easiest fix would be to release a version of the Dinkie without this prim.
I deleted this prim on my Dinkie a while ago and can't find any issues living without it.

Nofu Nagy "Plane" preloads the textures needed for the Dinkiedo. It's not the root prim anyway. The editing texture behaviour for the whole object has changed since viewer 6. and it's not because of pbr
