Editing Mesh Object Causes some PBR materials to become unlinked.

Having a weird issue with a gun I uploaded that uses PBR materials.
as you can see in the short clip, if I make any sort of change to the object, some of the PBR materials become unlinked, and revert back to their default white. To fix this i have to go into edit and reassign the corresponding PBR material to the broken links. This is the first time I've encountered this and some help would be greatly appreciated. Also note that it is not just the edit I made in the video that causes this but ANY sort of edit apparently, including simply resizing the object causes the same issue to occur.

Hi Bevvie17,
Can you share a copy of that gun with me (dan.linden) and atlas.linden.
I suspect this may be similar to https://feedback.secondlife.com/bug-reports/p/textures-big-bug-slot-shows-but-doesnt-apply-or-render

Are you using the overrides on the item or are you setting them to be the base material? As in if you do Edit PBR material, any edit there should be saved as a new material then applied on the main edit window.
Example here from Zanibar on the Alchemy viewer team.

Crexon Resident Hello and thank you for the quick response and informative video link. I am not using overrides on any meshes of the gun, I am applying materials (uploaded as gltf files from substance) directly as the base material.
What I've also found odd is that i seem to have to apply the material twice for it to properly cover all of the mesh that it's assigned to. I took another video which demonstrates this and my steps in applying materials. Not sure where I'm going wrong, but thank you for taking the time to respond.
I should also note that I do not have this issue when using non-pbr textures on the model.
