Hello, Our region, Popstar, that houses "Palazzo Park" was upgraded to the beta WebRTC voice. Recently we have been having issues with voice being unable to make IM Voice Calls because it sporadically gets disabled after landing here. I am not sure what causing it. Just wanted to inform you guys about that issue with the new voice WebRTC.

For any Firestorm users who see this issue here first instead of on our Jira, I fixed this issue a few days back after it was reported.
Once we release a new beta version (hopefully soon), please test on this and let us know on the Jira bug report linked below if everything works correctly.
(Or if you want to test even sooner than that, our nightly builds on our website also have this fixed already).
Since I know most of our users prefer to stick to release viewers and not betas, those effected may need to wait a while until our next release version for that button to be fixed.
In the meantime, a workaround you can do to initiate a call while in a WebRTC region is either-
- If in the same region, open the People floater and right-click them and click Call there.
- If next to the person, you can right-click their avatar and Call them there
- If not in the same region, open their profile and click the Cog icon in the bottom right and click Call there

I spoke with greatfang Novo and friends in-world, and got some more information. I can reproduce this bug under Firestorm 7.2.3 (80036) Feb 9 2026 21:17:14 (64bit / AVX2); it appears to be a UI issue, that the 'Call' button icon is disabled in the UI when users are in a webRTC region.
The basic steps to reproduce are:
- UserA, UserB: Login to a webRTC location like http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/WebRTC%20Voice%201/108/227/23
- UserA, UserB: Verify that you can speak over voice in nearby chat
- UserA: Right click on UserB's avatar, and select "IM" from the context menu
- UserA: In the Conversations floater, ensure the tab with UserB is active
- UserA: Click the '📞' button to attempt to call UserB
Expected results:
When UserA clicks the '📞' button in the Conversations floater, UserB should see an incoming p2p call, which should be answerable.
Actual results:
- In (5), UserA sees that the '📞' button in the Conversations floater is disabled. Clicking on it does nothing.
- If I repeat the repro steps in a Vivox-voice-mode region like http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ANWR/88/102/2 , then I see expected behavior: the '📞' button in the Conversations floater is enabled for UserA and can be used.
- UserA is still able to call UserB other ways in the UI. Right clicking on UserB's name in the People panel's 'Nearby' list has shows an active "Call" button, which calls UserB when clicked.
I don't see this issue with 'Second Life Release 7.2.3.19375695301 (64bit)' . In that viewer, both the '📞' button in the Conversations floater and 'Voice Call' context menu item in the People panel work properly in webRTC and VIvox regions.
I've attached an illustration of what it looks like in a webRTC region in Firestorm 7.2.3 (80036) Feb 9 2026 21:17:14 (64bit / AVX2).

Hi greatfang Novo, where is the other user located when you see the voice call failure? Is the other user in
- the same region,
- in a different webRTC region (any region on the "Second Life RC Preflight" channel),
- or in a non-webRTC region (any region noton the "Second Life RC Preflight" channel)?
Peer-to-peer calls between users should definitely work in (1) and (2), but there's a known compatibility issue between webRTC and Vivox which can cause failures for case (3).

Maestro Linden Same region. We’ve only had experiences and received complaints from users trying to make calls within our region. also they cant do conference calls too.

greatfang Novo: Thanks for the information. That case should definitely work. I see that your 'Popstar' region was moved off of webRTC (and onto a Vivox version) yesterday, at 2026-03-10 13:19, so it's no longer available for webRTC testing.
Are you able to reproduce the direct call failure with 2 users in a webRTC test region, like http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/WebRTC%20Voice%202/128/128/31 ?
I tried that location just now, and both nearby voice chat and peer-to-peer voice calls are working OK whether both users are on Second Life Release 7.2.3.19375695301 (64bit) or on Firestorm 7.2.3 (80036) Feb 9 2026 21:17:14 (64bit / AVX2).

Maestro Linden no i cant. so i teleported there then i closed the chat with my wife kacee popstar, then opened it back up and same issue. i cant call her on IM calling.

Yes, we were getting too many complaints and it was disrupting communication at Palazzo Park, so yesterday we asked to be moved off webRTC until we could figure it out. It was all users, as recent as yesterday. One user relogged and still had no luck. We have a friend (sunnibunni Lewis) who is also having the same issue as we are. She advised she has also put in a bug report also. If you'd like to put us back on webRTC so you can test, you are welcome to. I will go to the region youy mentioned to test as well.
