Microphone in use by: SecondLifeViewer with Voice Chat Enabled being unchecked
complete
DavidLupine Resident
Start WebRTC viewer with Voice Chat unchecked and Microphone is use by: SecondLifeViewer will appear in the taskbar.
This causes sound issues for people who don't regularly use voice and are using bluetooth headphones as it splits the bandwidth between input and output channels and renders the sound at a lower quality.
I believe this might be the root cause of this other canny report as well: https://feedback.secondlife.com/bug-reports/p/new-release-screws-up-my-sound

Yep still seeing this as an issue and yet LL apparently is completely disregarding it and simply marking it as fixed? What gives?

This is marked as complete but still a bug in 7.1.10.10800445603 (DeltaFPS)
It's particularly bad with noise cancelling headphones - once Windows things a microphone is in use, the headphones will switch into 'transparent' mode. In the case of my Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones, this causes the volume level to instantly double (sometimes to momentarily dangerous levels) and the quality of anything I'm listening to instantly drop.
It's also a potential privacy issue, since it looks like SL is recording audio when it's really not.
Can this please be reopened?

Thornotter Resident I agree as well. Voice is completely turned off and yet my computer is stating that my microphone is currently "in use" by SL viewer. I have a toggle switch on my microphone so its muted that way too but still. Seems like a rather odd issue, especially once that has been marked as completed without any mention or fix.
SL Feedback
Merged in a post from Logan Elf:
Title: DeltaFPS steals microphone despite Voice being disabled
Details: Have Voice disabled in preferences. Start SL Viewer. (no need to login, it steals it at start-up). Observe that the microphone icon appears in the taskbar notification area. Hover over it and the tooltip will show
"Second Life is using your microphone"
. (Similarly clicking the microphone icon will take you to the Microphone section of Windows Privacy Settings; scrolling down to the list of apps that can use the microphone and you'll see Second Life marked as currently using the microphone.)Zii Minotaur
This is still an issue as of DeltaFPS; is there a workaround?
