SLV 7.1.12 takes a LONG time to close
needs info
primerib1 Resident
- Login into SL
- Move around
- Quit by clicking the X button on top-right
- Wait ... and wait ... and wait ... for the shutting down box to disappear (See attached screenshot)
_Sometimes_ Windows will even say "Application has stopped responding", but if you don't force close, SLV will, _eventually_ , close on its own.
Just need to be ... patient ... patient ... patient ...
Note : I've seen this behavior in 7.1.11 but it seems it's getting worse (with 7.1.11 Windows never complain about "Application has stopped responding", and the wait is not as long.)

Hello all,
We have a new Release Candidate of 7.2.2 linked on https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer.html
Does the this viewer still take a long time to close? If it does, please reproduce the long logout, then email your SecondLife.log to bug-attachments@lindenlab.com and reference this Canny issue's title in the email subject line.
Thank you!

Dan Linden I reproduce this on FS, and have for many versions back, I couldn't tell if it stems from before 7.x but it happens on both of my machines. If I do a cache clear in preferences before shutting down it's way quicker. And getting inworld from desktop (W11) tends to be quicker for me too. I've been thinking for a while that maybe the cache management is slower than my download from CDN... Would you be interested in logs from FS too?
Dan Linden
Nyx Onyx: Hi Nyx. Yes, we would be interested in logs from FS. Please link them as I've explained below.

Dan Linden The "issue type" '...' cannot be chosen, I picked Technical Questions > Viewer Performance. Ticket # 2357634
Please see my note in the ticket. My contribution might not be relevant anymore.

I have had this issue occur. I'm also assuming being non US located the delay was due to distance from the servers as it can take roughly 5 minutes before I'm actually logged out?
Dan Linden
Ginger Pudding: There should not be a longer delay due to distance, not more than a second longer. There may be a delay due to low bandwidth, but 5 minutes is very long.
If you can, please reproduce the very slow logout issue and then zip up your viewer logs folder. This page tells you where to find the logs folder: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-report-a-bug/ta-p/733545#Section_.3
Log into https://support.secondlife.com/ and click the "Submit a Support Case" in the right column, then choose Issue Type: “…” and type “logs for canny issue” and add the link to this issue. Attach the zipped file of logs to support ticket. There's an “Attach a file” link at the bottom.
Please let us know here when after you've attached the logs.
Thank you!

Hi primerib1.
We are not reproducing this issue so far. Hopefully your logs will tell us the reason for the slow logout.

primerib1 Resident: Thank you for the log. We see about a 30 second gap in the 2 log files, SecondLife.log and SecondLife.old (from the previous session). Is that the delay you are reporting, or are you typically seeing a longer delay. If you're seeing a longer delay, please attach a new log after the longer delay happens, ideally one after that "Application has stopped responding" message happens.
