Ability to create prims as large as 128x128x128

Texture resolution has been increased to support up to 2048, now it would be wonderful if prim size could be doubled to support creation of up to 128x128x128m. Also ability to import mesh as large as 128m would be awesome too.

The phsics engine was long ago updated to handle these big prims and the megaprims horded by older residents like myself have long been used to make some wonderful content. It would be nice to let everyone in on the full creativity of bigger prims.

I would LOVE this as a terrain builder! I know mesh surrounds exist, but their creation seems limited behind some tricks of trade (or scripted size application? Dunno, I don't have the knowledge) - having objects natively able to be scaled up past 64m x 64m would be amazing!
I also agree that I'd like to be able to float linked objects farther than 64m from a root object. Again, I'm thinking about terrain building - I'd like to implement false shorelines and mountains / forests in my region builds, but existing creations just don't meet my needs, and I don't have the ability or finances to make it happen as is.

Megaprims have existed for many years and, at least up to 256x256, are absolutely fine to use. (The insane ones like 65536x65536, less so...)
This would be nice for builders. I don't think the uplift from 10m to 64m broke anything major. Now that it's possible to return encroaching objects, I can't see a reason to reject this.
Darling Brody
Nelson JenkinsI often use the 65536 megaprims in my region. Check out the region Quantum at a height of 2500 to see what can be done with really large prims.

Link Distance should also be increased to be able to reach the size of a region or at the very least doubled from its current setting which seems to be less than 64 meters currently, tho i am unsure.
Darling Brody
Sailor Vasiliev Yes. Link distance should really be at least 445 meters so that you can link everything inside a 256 meter cube. This would be amazing for pre-fab regions and region sized skyboxes etc. I have produced these for years and the link distance forcing parts to be put in smaller groups and then positioned is a major pain point.

This has been needed for a very long time. But the logical limit would be 256x256... the size of a sim. Just yesterday we put up a sim border for aesthetics... and it required TWELVE 64m prims to do so, when one 256m prim would have done the trick.
I know there are "logical" reasons against large prims (physics impact when walked on, use by griefers... we've heard them all), but I believe those reasons are more rationalization than reality. Just about anything can be used by a griefer, and even small items can cause significant problems. Once again, size is not the issue; the griefer is. The physics impact data is not nearly so great as some may claim. If there is a problem, concierge can always step in.
The advantages to 256m prims significantly outweigh any disadvantages. I say do this... not for just premium users but for everyone. People do get tired of being charged for EVERYTHING.

I believe we should, there used to be something called super prims that were great, not sure why they took them away, but having bigger prims than we get would be a game changer for builds.

MikaelDior Resident The large prims were called Megaprims and the result of a server glitch that lasted like 3 days, maybe 2 decades ago now. By then so many of them had been created already, and used in builds, that Linden Lab decided not to delete them from the asset servers. You can still find the packages in freebie shops today.

Let's cross fingers .. I already asked for it and it got CLOSED ... https://feedback.secondlife.com/feature-requests/p/ability-to-create-megaprims-in-spite-of-using-those-from-others knowing that if 128x128 is possible .. why not 256x256 that is more logicial as it is the size of a SIM

Woolfyy Resident Baby steps requests at first. Plus with the new increase in higher texture resolution support, perhaps this request will be looked at with a fresh outlook so that the "per pixel" surface area of an object face can doubled
