Ad Images from Creators vs Inventory
Nazaire Dragonash
ooOOoo this one drives me batsh*t! I LOVE the ability that we can now add an image to the folders in our Inventory. HOWEVER, Many creators are NOT taking into account the size limits. We then have to load their AD (or in some cases take our own picture) to our computer, resize the photo, then pay to upload it back into SL. Kind a pain in the buttinsky. Can you make some adjustments so this is not such an issue P-L-E-A-S-E! Thanks in advance.

I agree, there should be a size limit to the image included with the items we purchase. But also, please ALL creators should include an image of the item with your purchase. I have requested photos of my purchases so many times, they already uploaded the image and use it in their advertisement of the product. Why not include an image in the package with the purchased product? Oh, and I DO NOT need an image of their logo... does me no good. The items are no transfer, so no chance of reselling with their logo.

This is only really and issue with images uploaded in 2:1 or 1:2. But it does touch on another issue with the current implementation of the choose folder image dialogue: it lies. The warning you get when trying to set big square images as folder image is false.
Yes, when you drag a 512x512 (or 1024x1024, or 2048x2048) texture onto the main Change Folder Image window, it will warn you "Only square images from 64 to 256 pixels per side are allowed.", but this is not true.
You can set a bigger (square) texture as folder image through the "Choose texture" (checker board icon) dialog of Change Folder Image window: either by selecting from the file picker that pops up, or by dragging an image from the main inventory window into the file picker.

"load their AD ... to our computer, resize the photo, then pay to upload it back into SL. "
Did you know you don't need to upload it as regular (and paid) pic? The Add Image thing has an option to choose a file from local and that costs nothing.
Also yeah, that floater is a bit tricky (at least for Firestorm, not sure if official viewer has the same issue). It says certain sizes are not supported when "selecting" a file or texture, but when dragging/dropping it can accept it (or the opposite). I have been able to use 1k pics by dragging from inventory but I got an error when selecting it through the list

Or make a square cropping capability to the selection floater so we can crop. This had to have been suggested already.

Ideally, if all creators were aware of this it might help, but that would involve getting and requiring more creators to do this as part of their advert practices on top of what they already do (create).
