Assosciate a HUD with a vehicle and have it automatically attach/detach
Extrude Ragu
In Second Life, many objects with sit targets like vehicles, games and even just regular chairs have HUDs affiliated with them that are necessary to control them effectively.
Juggling HUD's can be inconvenient. You can end up with a lot of HUD's on your screen that have nothing to do with what you are doing now. When you can't remember the name of a HUD, it can be especially inconvenient trawling through your inventory to find it.
To solve this I would like for us to be able to associate a HUD with a given seat, and the viewer to attach the HUD to me automatically without permission requests.
So for example if you sit on your cars driver seat you will get the drivers HUD once the vehicle is set up.
I would like for us to be able to achieve this ideally through the Build Window UI, so you can easily retrofit this feature to existing creations that you own.
The viewer will attach the HUD to us which shall remain attached for as long as we are sat on the associated object, and will automatically detach the HUD once we unsit.

That reminds me of all those unattached Manji HUDs left behind in parking lots that weren't even phantom, so they blocked the parking lots. Wonderful design. So anyway, it can work, but if the creator isn't very smart (which is a thing with quite a few creators), it just turns into a disaster. Of course if it would attach from the owner's own inventory, not the vehicle's, it would be safer and easier.

As it is now, the hud needs to be rezzed prior to attach so it makes it unusable for vehicles since you can stand and sit again in an area where you don't have rez permissions. I made a hud nammed EzAdd that uses RLV and does exactly what you want. It works with either the full name of the vehicle (or anything you are sitting one) but can also use keywords in the end of the name so you can use the same attachements for several vehicles (and also (de)activates gestures contained in the folder). Finally, attach and detach can be fully automated or triggered by a button on the hud because it can be annoying to have all automatically added or removed when you just sit on the car to take a break or stand just for a moment.

Sounds like one of many applications that could use scripted UI. 😉
