Desperately Need Skirt Bones

Skirts longer than mini are incredibly difficult to create and wear. The addition of even just two, knee length skirt bones, one in the front and one in the back would hugely improve the way skirts behave. At least I think that's the solution to the problem of skirts not working properly between the left and right leg, they simply don't move well. Just a suggestion. Thank you :)

In fact, the bones should undergo significant improvement, even for other parts, not just the leg region, we have problems with the shoulders, armpits, middle of the chest, and belly, a reshaping of the bones would help the development of content significantly, wouldn't it be a penance create certain items,

+ an extra bone between the pecs/breasts to handle shirt stretching would be killer, too

Issue tracked. We have no estimate when it may be implemented. Please see future updates here.

What we need it's an universal custom bones system where physics can be applied. This is specially important as part of the VRM standard (subset of glTF standard) uses it. It would mean a wide range of compatibility with existing content and an easy way to import avatars from other platforms like vrchat. But we would need first an unified glTF workflow to be implemented to be able to upload meshes and animations and not only materials.
Definitely, adding custom bones for just skirts it's a bad solution that can lead to the late implementation of a proper and standard better solution.
So, not to skirt bones. Yes to proper custom bones like every platform other than SL already have. Then we can use them for skirts, tails, hairs, etc.

Please, please please, please, please. I am sick to death of skirts and dresses that are too short because creators struggle to rig longer skirts.

A "bones / flexi" combined approach would certainly make them move in a more natural way, the same way real clothing has some constraints but at the end the main problem is that sitting is not like dancing.
In the same way the post that i did asking SL to better manage hair so that it can get under a hat without going through has simply been closed ...

I agree... but then, how do we animate them for all pose and physical activities? It may need to be split from animation bone system and that we'd have to ask for client-side physic for these to move with any animation and sitting orientation placement.
I believe LUA may be the answer for this in the future.

Mesh skirts don't move well for most styles. The one advantage of well designed prim skirts was that they moved. I'd welcome any improvement.
