Plugin System

Why can't we have a plugin system for the official Second Life viewer. So a developer could create an advanced phototools plugin (like the Firestorm version) etc., that is selectable and installable from a checkbox list. This way we get the best of all worlds and only install the added features we really use. We also get the latest UI updates and performance from the official viewer.

Thanks for taking the time to suggest a plugin/extension system for the official Second Life viewer (e.g., optional installable modules like advanced photo tools, so residents can keep the core viewer lean while adding only the features they use).
We did find this is a duplicate of an older request from Second Life’s previous bug tracking system, and we’ll be tracking it there:
BUG-231830
(Viewer extension system). Your post will be marked as tracked and linked to that existing request so all feedback stays consolidated in one place. While we don’t have an ETA to share, adding your use case (especially around modular phototools and keeping up with official UI/performance improvements) helps show the demand and the kinds of extensions residents would prioritize. Please keep an eye on future viewer updates, and feel free to add any additional details or examples to the tracked item.
