The Web Profile (Feed, which is only a part of it) is a bit too old and inconsistent, but it has a few very good ideas. Those privacy settings which are useful only apply to the Feed and that's exactly how they intended it, just like how you can apply similar settings on Facebook, Twitter, Primfeed, etc. Other parts of your Web Profile are in sync with what you can see in the viewer and the restrictions don't apply to those parts.
