Proposed Feature: Legacy Loyalty Land Discount
rottweiler Lednev
"It would be neat to see a feature that offers a 1024sqm discount to users who spend significant time in-game monthly, provided their accounts are 10 years or older, as a thank you for their dedication.
Often, legacy users feel underappreciated; this would serve as a meaningful 'thank you.' The mechanic is simple: if a veteran user spends at least 2 hours a day, 5 days a week in-world, they receive a tier discount on 1024sqm of land.
How does this drive profit? * Reduced Abandonment: Land is less likely to be abandoned if it’s subsidized for active creators.
Increased Retention: Users who are active in-world are more likely to spend on the Marketplace and animations.
Improved New User Experience: Rewarding those who take the time to make the virtual world feel less empty creates natural traffic. This makes the world feel vibrant and helps newcomers feel less lonely."
Offer this to any NON paid memberships accounts that are 10 year or older legacy accounts.
A way to make it more exciting would be to add perks like for each year past a legacy 10 year account adds free land size onto it.

I would rather see more prims or tier discounts to people that use their land for public consumption, Airports/Docks, Clubs, Creators/Store Fronts, Amusement Parks, ETC. Without these people SL would be boring and probably wouldn't be here.

Are you thinking CONTINUOUS TIME or TOTAL TIME, because sl logs me out frequently, so i would have trouble staying in game 2 hours continuously... even though i am in game all day 7 days a week i have to keep re logging in because of getting booted. Consider connection issues when you make that rule please.

No, we don't feel underappreciated and I am too old to fall for cheap sales gimmicks. It will not reduce abandonment, real life events do that and why on Earth you would think we would get excited about a few perks says a lot about your limited life experiences. And BTW if LL was dumb enough to offer to 'NON paid membership' they will lose most of their revenue from membership because we may as well not renew them seeing as LL would be rewarding those who pay nothing

I agree. In general I think if a sim would be way cheaper, more residents would rent or buy one. 200-300 usd is way too much.

Best rewarding for us players would be that the landprizes for sims or other land would get a lot cheaper always wondered why it has to be that expensive as it is a lot real life money those land prizes maybe its the greedy aditude from linden lab if prizes would lower more people would maybe be able to rent land or buy land

I'm not sure rewarding ONLY those who pay after 10 years would make much difference, but I am not against the idea, I just do not think the current paid for packages provide any kind of meaningful value or really help acquire or retain users.
I think if a goal is to have more paying customers then the paid for packages need to be completely overhauled for their actual value., the simple reality is the current land packages are pathetically weak and I think the majority of people who look at them do the simple math on cost v's provided L$ and decide buying L$ is a better option, or most likely do not bother with either!
Overall the cost/reward equation in SL is not good enough for a legacy product with every legacy issue imaginable.
The 'empty' issue is really simple in my opinion, legacy product with no marketing or USP (emphasis on Selling), very poor paid for subscriptions and overly 'complex' benefits in a world where people have the attention span of goldfish!
Too few people spread over too much land/too many private regions.

I'd rather see a loyalty reward for long time premium members.
As it is, someone coming back to SL with an account created in the early days, but that has not been used in years, gets all those grandfathered perks. At the same time, users who pay their premium fees for years, don't get upgrades, unless they pay additional money.
A small thank you, even if it's just in the form of a slightly higher stipend, or a slightly higher free land tier, would go a long way.
Hell, even more group slots would be nice.

I find it difficult to see how a perk attained after 10 years is going to assist in new user retention. Many don't last 2 weeks, some even less if they begin toying with the inventory early on.
Additionally, wouldn't granting perks of monetary value (land, discounts, etc) be unfair to new / younger accounts? Premium is available to all willing to subscribe, but a free 1024 or any other amount based on account age renders a large portion of the community ineligible due solely to the fact that they didn't join SL soon enough.
Something like this would also likely result in residents digging up ancient alts for the sake of reselling the account, or even "farming" accounts to hold x amount of land for a discounted rate/free.
All for the recognition of a resident's time invested in the community, but in a different form. Maybe some type of milestone marker in the form of a special "Resident for X years" profile badge or even a rezzable plaque... or both :^)

I see a couple of questions with this but the main problem I see is this:
You start turning a reward into a chore. You only see the case of a user who stays logged in a couple of hours every day and BY THE WAY gets a reward for this. But for many cases it will turn into:
"let's go play [random game] but wait sh*t, I have to open the SL viewer and stay logged in for 2 hours or I won't get the discount this week."
That's not a great experience for the user, and it doesn't contribute anything if the user is forced to have the viewer logged in minimized and just idle.
Furthermore the SL user base is old and it's hard to attract new residents. This means a 10 year old account is nothing special and those are the users that keep SL running with their money. I would argue that, from a business perspective, the contrary would make sense, to give discounts to NEW users.

xDancingStarx Resident Well. It may be a chore but it’s a pleasant one. I can receive almost L$1000 a month by logging in daily on my iPad for a few seconds before logging in on my laptop for the rest of my stay. Every little helps if you’re paying the monthly tier on a whole island…
