PSYS_PART_BILLBOARD_MASK for LLParticleSystem
tracked
Kriss Lehmann
Creates particles that rotate on the z-axis to face the camera position, but do not rotate on the x or y axis to angle up or down to the camera. Implementation of this feature would greatly benefit the use of particles when applied to create billboards, fog, fire, or any effect where angling up and down towards the camera breaks immersion.

Pazako Karu
Alternative name PSYS_PART_HOLO_MASK as they are also used for holograms.

Pazako Karu "Billboard" is the general industry term used when talking about a 2D representation for a 3D object that rotates toward the camera on an axis. It's typically used in various game engines to represent distant items meant to face the camera (trees, clouds, etc.) "Holo" is typically used for to describe the rendering or display of 3D virtual objects in reality (or the artificial representation in virtual space). The application of the actual effect is limitless, but LL can call it whatever they want. in Sansar, LL referred to it as "Lollipop" because it only rotated in the up axis. Whatever is is called in the end, it's the functionality that would be appreciated. I do hope the right eyes see this, and something can be done for it.

I support that, we need more feature for Particles
Yman Juran
Great Idea. Like to have it.

Kind of a cross between normal sprites and "ribbon" particles, I love it.
At least half of the particles I use, especially candle and fireplace flames, are pretending this problem doesn't exist, as if nobody's cam ever tilts down on a scene.
Kriss Lehmann
As they currently behave, particles angle towards the camera, resulting in immersion breaking behavior.

Great idea! Would be fabulous for creators and customers alike.
