Redesign of gestures to make them even more useful

I think the gestures could be awesome and much more useful.
TLDR;
- Allow for gestures to play animations and sounds in the inventory even when they are not transfer
- Allow to search for the animation/sound name (maybe something similar to the texture ‘pick up’ dialog.
- Add ‘stop all animations’ and ‘stop all sounds’ as a command
- Expand the keys to use also numbers 0-9 and combinations 'alt', alt+shift', 'ctrl+shift'
It’s better explain with a use case, let’s say animations. Let’s say I want to map 10 different animations to the ten function buttons.
Actually I can map 30 animations using ‘shift’ and ‘control’. This will alleviate having a hud with 30 animations, and a listener.
The first issue I find is that I cannot trigger animation I have no transfer right to them, which are most animation bought from creators. This issue has been raised before and the problem seems to be gestures not having permission system.
It is ok to have to make them one by one, they are only ten. But trying selecting the proper animation from a dropdown in a list of 1000s is tedious. This was OK with maybe tens of animations.
Another thing I find missing from the gestures functionality is a command to stop the animations that are looped. At the moment I need to make two gestures, one to start the animation, and one to stop that particular animation. So let’s say for then animation I’d use F1-10 to start them, and shift+F1-10 to stop them. I wish I could have only one gesture that stops them all. Think that I can have two animation playing, like sitting and waving.
It also would be nice if we could use the numbers 0-9 and other combinations of modifiers keys 'alt', alt+shift', 'ctrl+shift'.
With the proposals of client side scripting (LUA), it feels sad that gestures got so little love over the years even when they are awesome, they even have a wait command so one can sequence actions without scripting.
Thanks for reading!

Gestures - ADDITIONAL MAPPING SUPPORT + general feedback on gestures
Puppy Dreamer
This will only appeal to a certain audience who uses gesture based mapping. BUT- I think with additional support added it COULD appeal to EVERYONE.
Gestures are something that can be used for:
RLV commands
Accessibility support
Gamers in secondlife
Friend interaction ESP if don't use voice
Presets for DJ's, Hosts, or sim Owners
+ MANY more uses!
CURRENTLY: We have no way to change the "default" mapping of using ctrl and alt for LOT of opening of menu's. There is no way to remap this in modern viewers as it could break things. See here for these specific keybinds I am referencing- https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/keyboard-shortcuts-r369/
WITH THE ABOVE INFO IN MIND: Why in heaven's do we ONLY allow- SHIFT or CTRL as the first "qualifier" keybind. Considering most letters and others are used via ctrl and we cant change them? If we could add more support for combinations, we could have increased access to gesture mapping and utilize the keyboard better. I know I cant be the only one who uses nearly every option available for accessibility, fun, and interaction with others?
WHAT I AM ASKING: If we could add more support for gestures and allow more mapping. I won't be greedy and ask for third party control support for gestures, but any additional support could go a long way for some folx. If we could at min get ALT + SHIFT AND ALT / SHIFT on the FIRST qualifier box- would be good but allowing either side to have the same button options would be way better- that way we can do tons of diff combo keys and re-use buttons over and over (such as Q, Q+Q, W+Q, E+Q, etc etc)
ADDITIONALLY: Adding in general more supports for gestures as we get SLua implemented would be great. For the "Library" section- could add more Key-Moments / Calls such as -stop sound- -stop ALL animation (I'm aware you can via a sub click under animation but it's not as intuitive)- and I have heard others mention channeling- while I can see it works via chat, would be nice to think on reworking make easier flow too. I also wish to have a button SOMEWHERE in inventory or menu to STOP all gestures- like we have in avatar health. Sometimes u mis-click or drop a keyboard and it GOES OFF- and u need to be able to stop it all.

I think a lot more could be done with gestures tbh.. but the root cause of all this is the awful input handling of SL. Need configurable full key mapping for the client with lsl support. Keyboard, gamepad, all of it. Then expand gestures for multiple input triggers, more actions, etc.

ST33LDI9ITAL Resident def would be ideal, agreed

This could open up a lot of Cool Options

Adding to this: Please can we get consistent key naming for non-US keyboards? Half the special keys in the list are effectively unusable on UK keyboards, as the symbols are on entirely different keys. This feels like something that should've been figured out long ago.

Auhrii Resident I agree. It’s our language. Support the Brits or we will take it back.

It may have minimal use to it but the ability to edit and create gestures using a text-based solution rather than the current compact UI could be greatly beneficial.

Allowing users to create No Transfer gestures using No Transfer animations that they own would be so useful. There are many furry heads for example that do not include gestures for animating the head, forcing users to rely on a script heavy HUD. Gestures alleviate the need for the HUD and lower script usage.
And yes, being able to search for specific sounds and animations when creating gestures instead of scrolling through an endless alphabetical list would be a most welcome update!

Allow the amount of text that a single line of a gesture can spit out to be more.
I roleplay a character in a sim that works in what basically amounts to customer service positions and I often have to post the same message many times in a day. But we're only allowed one post per rotation. I'd love to use gestures to do the thing.

The keys allowable already include 0-9. Among other things, the excellent helicopters from Shergood Aviation use gestures tied to those keys for aircraft control functions.
And you did mean "shi

t" key, right?
