System for Replacing Inventory Links with Updated Object

i have many, MANY dinkie outfits of my several dinkie avatars. today, i wanted to update my 'make your own dinkie bom body v1.8' with version 1.9.
firstly, it would be super nice if i could just tell my inventory: "find links to object A and replace with links to object B."
secondly, after i hand-pasted all my link to 1.9 where the links to 1.8 were, i thought, 'ha-ha! i will just delete all these 1.8 links by deleting the original 1.8 body.' but NO.
as i went to delete the 1.8 body, the inventory told me that there were links to it, and that it recommended i delete the links FIRST. how is that even a thing? if deleting the original object breaks the links to it, why are they still there?
i mean, i guess so people can find the broken links and fix them. but maybe at least an option to say 'omg, yes please, destroy all those links'?
:)

thank you!
yes, i felt dumb as soon as i had another incident of updating an item, and right clicked it only to see 'replace links' in the options. (firestorm!)

Firestorm and a few other TPVs have this exact feature.
