Will we see a switch from the outdated Open GL to Vulkan anytime soon? Vulkan generally runs PBR (Physically Based Rendering) better than older graphics APIs like DirectX 11, Open GL because it provides a much lower level of access to the GPU. Can also solve the overheating issue with PBR.

This would be an excellent addition because as of right now I believe SL uses CPU more than the GPU so this would speed things up immensely

GLTF update is basically the stepping stones toward Vulkan... but they do have quite a few things to plan for before getting there. It's no small feat. :/

Hello, and thank you for your feature request regarding the switch from OpenGL to Vulkan for better performance and handling of PBR. Another resident has previously brought up the idea of adding Vulkan API support to the Second Life Viewer, and we are merging your comments to get to it faster.
