Longer Autoreturn on Bellisseria Railway
under review
Earnest Deed
I rezzed my train at a station in or near Barker region and got a script failure at the beautiful She Shells underwater railway tunnel. There is only a 1 minute autoreturn, which means that there is no really time to stand up from the failed train and resit on the train because the train is autoreturned too quickly. In Heterocera on SLRR lines the autoreturn is set for a more sensible 5 minutes. The quick return in Bellisseria will be causing additional server load via unnecesary autoreturns.

By having shorter autoreturn and object entry turned off (it is on in Heterocera SLRR protected land) the region's server has to do an unneeded parcel return. A train driver cannot do the return themselves because a sat on object cannot be returned to inventory. So after a region crossing causes a script failure standing up is the only option and Bellisseria regions have to deal with the server load of autoreturns. Note that it will be the same regions that are overloaded with autoreturns because a script failure is generally a problem in that region's setup. In Heterocera I know the regions that will crash my train's script every time I enter. So Under Review is the correct response to allow the server team to work out whether Bellisseria or Heterocera has the most server effiicient response to the problem.

Earnest Deed This is not a server load issue. Especially since most LH regions are not loaded with scripted objects as much as some Mainland regions, and there aren't as many people either most of the time, Bellisseria sims can certainly deal with it.
If you read Oatmeal Linden's comment below you can see an explanation for the region She Sells, what I don't get in it is that all Bellisseria protected land (except some rez zones) has 1 minute autoreturn and no object entry, not only that one region.
The original Linden Homes continents (Nascera) had the same land permissions, and even scripts were disabled. (That made using vehicles quite tricky but not impossible at all.)
If you look at Blake Sea regions, object entry is disabled there too, autoreturn timers vary from 1 to 15 minutes. It is definitely not a concern of server load but an attempt to prevent unwanted objects to cross these regions on their own (bullets, standard griefer objects, replicators - even though replicators were usually very good at bypassing no object entry).
Several Zindra roads have no object entry either.
In all these cases, it is quite annoying and inconvenient to have to find a rez zone if we had a bad region crossing or had to stand up from the vehicle for whatever reason. Except for the Zindra roads where having object entry disabled makes no sense, the permissions in the other areas make sense.
Whether it sounds weird or not, the ability that we can use vehicles in Bellisseria, that there is a huge railroad network and it is generally built with the goal to facilitate vehicle use is a privilege. It could be and should be optimized, but with proper understanding.

Earnest Deed Increasing autoreturn would not change anything. Protected Land parcels in Linden Homes regions have object entry disabled and that is why vehicles return almost immediately if you stand up from them. Increased autoreturn would only help when the object entry permission fails to apply (ancient bug) and the vehicle would stay there despite the "no object entry" flag. That is why autoreturn is important in general, since object entry in itself is useless.

Hello Earnest! We are sorry to hear about the issue you had with region crossings. This is a known issue that receives periodic review by our engineers, and I suspect we are due for another checkup ;-)
Regarding the autoreturn on the protected parcels within Bellisseria, the protected parcel in She Sells has a shorter autoreturn to allow the house rezzers in the region to perform their tasks for all parcel owners. If the region is full due to a large vehicle, new house buildings cannot rez for the parcel owner attempting a selection.
We will review the balance between house parcels and open space for any adjustments we may be able to make.

Oatmeal Linden That's an interesting explanation. The house rezzers are owned by Moles and have the LDPW group tag, don't they? Maybe they were rezzed in admin mode (god mode) as well. That means they have priority over random objects (like vehicles on the public parcels without the land group tag), so the house rezzers can't fail due to insufficient LI in this way. As far as I know you keep object entry disabled on the protected land parcels (that is what doesn't allow vehicles to stay there in the first place, not autoreturn, but autoreturn is important because of the bug that renders object entry mostly useless) so that griefer objects, bullets or any kind of harmful objects normally cannot travel through these lands.
