Proactive Policy Request Regarding AI Use in Skill Gaming Areas
CashinoGames SLSGO
Hello,
I have been operating in the skill gaming sector within Second Life for a long time. These games are based on player skill—such as attention, reflexes, and decision-making—rather than chance.
As AI-powered avatars become more common in Second Life, they present new risks that require proactive consideration for skill gaming regions.
While it is currently unclear whether AI bots are actively playing these games, the potential for them to do so already poses a significant concern.
Specifically:
- AI could apply flawless strategies with perfect timing and no human error.
- This would artificially inflate scores and disrupt the balance of the game.
- Real players would face an unfair competitive disadvantage.
Therefore, I respectfully request that Linden Lab consider the following measures:
- Define clear and explicit policies restricting AI bot usage within skill gaming areas.
- Require visible labeling or identification for AI-controlled avatars, to prevent them from posing as real players.
- Provide developers and region operators with tools to report or monitor AI bot behavior.
- Consider isolating skill gaming regions from potential AI interference, if technically feasible.
AI certainly has beneficial aspects. It can be useful for new user onboarding or assistive tasks. However, fairness and trust are foundational to the skill gaming experience, and these spaces must be protected accordingly.
Addressing this issue now will help prevent more serious problems in the future.
Sincerely,
CashinoGames SLSGO

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more votes. I don't do skill gaming myself but you make great points. AI-run avatars have no place as players in skill gaming regions
