Ridgewood Commercial – Unfair Access, Delayed Updates, and Inconsistent Enforcement

I need to give direct feedback on the Ridgewood commercial release system because right now, it’s not working in a fair or realistic way.
People are being forced to sit there for long periods, sometimes hours, just to spam refresh and try to click a parcel the second it becomes available. It’s not a proper release system anymore; it’s just luck and timing with who clicks faster or who’s got less lag.
And on top of that, when land actually becomes abandoned, you still have to wait ages for the sign to even show. So by the time anything appears, people are already sitting there for hours watching and waiting for nothing. That is not a functional system for commercial land.
It also creates unnecessary conflict between residents because everyone is under pressure doing the same thing at the same time, and people end up speaking to each other badly. That is a direct result of how this system is set up.
The “7-day rule” enforcement also doesn’t feel consistent. We are told to send abuse reports, but parcels still stay claimed with no clear change, even after repeated checks over time. From the outside, it looks like inactive or unused spaces are just sitting locked while others can’t access them.
At this point, the system feels unclear, slow to update, and not fairly managed. If the intention is first-come, first-served, then it still needs to be done in a way that is actually transparent and updated in real time, not based on waiting for signs and hoping you catch a window.
This needs a proper review because right now it’s frustrating, inconsistent, and does not reflect a fair commercial allocation process.

Hello Cin! Thank you for the feedback. We will review this.

First, I agree that covenant enforcement is weak and needs improvement.
As to the unfairness issue concerning RE Commercial parcels... yeah, but at least they are consistently unfair. Because your winning/losing in Game of Homes depends on luck with various factors... being online when a desirable parcel is available, getting a pick you like via the algorithm, ability to stalk a parcel, etc... your satisfaction is not guaranteed. You pay your money, you take your chances.
The alternative is to let the market decide, but we already have that in multiple places... mainland, private estates, rentals. Or they could have created a wait list but that has fairness issues involving who knows about it, corruption, and gaming it.
The current scheme gives YOU A REMEDY that you can act on yourself. Just be present and pay attention... eventually you will get what you want because there is a limited demand for these things.
When RE Commercial was announced a year ago and I got the impression that some Ridgewood Enclave parcels would be split into two contiguous parts, one residential and one commercial... but they changed it. At present, any P+ subscriber can claim one so that seems more fair than the original scheme... so give LL credit for that.

I fully agree, as I wait on your abandoned parcel for it to become available, Cin 😸 - though I must object: "people end up speaking to each other badly. That is a direct result of how this system is set up."
People "speaking to each other badly" is a direct result of how they were raised, their sense of entitlement, etc. We cannot control the winds of SL. We can only control our sails.

This reminds me of how impossible it was to get a Bellisseria Linden home when they were new. It took weeks before I finally got a home because everybody wanted them and there weren't enough to go around. Once supply meets demand, or when the novelty wears off, I imagine it will be easier to get one of those retail spaces.

FWIW, it took me a couple weeks of frustration to sort this stuff out. The solution, for me, was finding the show me an available parcel kiosk that is in the center of the regions. Using that, I visited 3 and found one I liked. However, tech support seems to have no idea that kiosk is even there, they just tell you to walk around a look for an available spot.
I have no clue why they didn't use the same system they use for homes. Seems like it would have been a lot easier to implement and would be something everyone already understands how to use.

I hope this is why LL "re-organized" and shed weight; as this was a gigantic mess for all of the reasons you said. They have a process to claim linden homes that could have been used but instead they chose this trainwreck that has caused stress, frustration, and drama.
