Warn before allowing purchase of G rated land

I was so excited about my new land purchase...until I realized that I'd accidentally purchased USELESS land that I'd have to babysit constantly because no one is allowed to say a bad word or wear something "revealing", which is, every article of clothing sold in SL. UGH, now I have to wait for some other sap to accidentally purchase it, or abandon my hard earned money. Why oh why is G rated land STILL allowed at all? Why not put it on sims that people wouldn't visit anyway? At LEAST give a head's up to say- HEY! You're about to purchase a USELESS parcel! Are you sure you mean to do that?

Hello Varna! Currently your viewer should display a region's maturity rating in the search bar at the top. There is already a lot of information presented in the Buy Land panel, such as the covenant and terraforming permissions, and how the new acquisition will change your land use fees. We may be able to further adjust this by including the region maturity rating at a later date. Thanks for the suggestion!

I agree with other commenters, that you should not disparage G rated regions and even say they should be eliminated. However, your idea has merit. I don't buy mainland very often, last time was a few months ago but as you say, I don't remember there being a warning about the type of region the land is on. If there isn't any warning like that, it would be a good idea. And it works both ways... what if you wanted G or M land and mistakenly bought Adult region land.

If your shop sells Moderate or Adult rated products, you need to be cognizant of the land rating before you decide to put the money down. Were you aware of the region rating before or after you found the parcel? Did you even bother to check?
Throwing shade on the G rating gets you no points, especially since land ratings have been a thing for over a decade.
Take the L, sell the land at the same price you purchased it (or lower), and while it's up for sale, put some landscaping up to improve the 'curb appeal'.

The world is larger and more varied than you imagine. There are people who appreciate a G rating, and there are clothing makers who provide decent outfits and sell them too. Can you hear yourself? You must think people who opt for a G-rated region are somehow second-rate to demand that they be put on land that other people wouldn't visit. No, you made a hasty purchase of what was probably a cheap parcel. Caveat emptor.

There's been three levels of maturity rating for 17 years here, it's on the resident to verify the land they are purchasing lives up to their expectation. Otherwise same argument could be made about A-rated, since a lot of residents do not lead a second life that includes nudity or profanity. Adding extra steps for land purchase does not seem like a fruitful use of server team resources, since the information is readily available on the map, in "Parcel Details" and in "Region Details" already.

Tinker PixelsActually, Adult land was introduced in June, 2009.

Jennifer Boyle Oh yes, that's true. Doesn't change much in regards to my argument though. Updated my response :-)

You can simply set privacy on that parcel and no one will be seen once they are inside it.

Ikaros Alpha While true, not very solid advice. If they to go do something explicit on a 'private' general-rated parcel, any party in the parcel at the time could still report the activity.

Thern Lorefield And you could simply set access to certain persons only. And put in an orb and whatever people do... but if you want to see a problem in SL... you can always have one. Some people thrive on it.
