✨ Feature Requests

I'd love to request a feature that would be a huge quality-of-life improvement for many of us in the Second Life community: the ability to schedule group notices in advance and set up repeatable group notices for recurring events. This would be incredibly helpful not only for creators, but also for event organizers, venue owners, and anyone managing active communities. Many of us balance our Second Life activities with full-time jobs, families, and other real-life responsibilities. Being able to draft and schedule a group notice to send out later, at a specific date and time, would ensure we don’t miss promoting important releases, events, or updates simply because we're not online at the right moment. Here’s how this feature would help: 🔔 Consistency: Notices could go out exactly when intended, even if the sender isn’t logged in. ⏰ Efficiency: No more setting alarms or reminders just to log in and send a notice at a specific time. 🔁 Repeatable Events: Weekly DJs, markets, or game nights could have notices automatically go out on the same day/time each week. 🧠 Less Stress: More time to focus on building, hosting, and enjoying SL... without worrying about last-minute reminders. This would streamline operations for businesses and communities of all sizes and help us all stay better connected and organized. If anyone else would find this helpful, feel free to show support. Hopefully, it’s something the LL team could consider adding in future updates!

I'd be amazed if this hasn't already been suggested in the last decade or two but... Within Preferences>Chat or at https://accounts.secondlife.com/change_email it would be nice if there was a "Transcribe received notecards" option... or "Include received notecard text", something along those lines? Just for notecards/no other inventory types... go ahead and limit it to the first 255 characters or whatever if there is a reason to limit it, and yes even prior to clicking "accept" inworld. In other words, if someone sends me a notecard message, it would be very useful if there was some way that instead of: ------------------------- Legitimate Businessperson has offered you 'customer service request' in Second Life. Log in to accept or decline the offer. ------------------------- ... that this message could also contain all or at least the first x characters of the notecard... This notecard reads as follows: Hi Logan, I purchased an item yesterday but soon after had to go into witness protection and lost all of my earthy posessions.. could you send me another copy? It would be lovely if we could tick a box to silence notifications and turn off offline notices for individuals instead of having to have all or none.

As of this writing, residents can engage in abusive behavior by sending L$ to people who have blocked them. This enables the unwanted receipt of messages from blocked parties using the L$ Pay notes as an attack vector. When someone is blocked, all methods of communication or interaction should be prohibited at the forefront. People circumventing this are not only harassing people, but exploiting a safety exploit in the payment system to continue harassing people, which given the negligble cost of L$ on an individual level, these attacks could be persistent.

Update the chat box ! Heck, even AOL waaaaay back in the day had a more dynamic chat box than what SL has.

I would like to have the ability to have blocks that work both ways. That way not only can I not see their voice or text chat but it would also prevent them from reading my chat or hearing my voice. When I block someone I generally do not want them to communicate with me. Including through communicating with others about what I am saying in a public location. Logging my text chat for use on third party sites or copied to another chat. I just generally don't want them to exist in SL for me, that includes them interacting with my interactions with other residents in public in an indirect way. I think if blocking also blocked them from seeing or hearing my messages that would resolve most of this.

Currently if someone types [SOME_UNSAFE_URL SOME_SAFE_URL] into an IM they can convince a person to click a malicious link that looks entirely safe visually. I propose a way to correct this: A new Preferences -> Chat -> Chat Windows checkbox called Enable URL Filtering. When unchecked it disables the Allowed URLs button. A new Preferences -> Chat -> Chat Windows button called Allowed URLs. When this button is clicked a filter list similar to the Firestorm Media Filter list pops up allowing the user to add or remove allowed domains. By default the following domains should be allowed: secondlife.com firestormviewer.org phoenixviewer.com discord.gg discord.com youtube.com youtu.be This way users can perform basic operations like connecting to friends on Discord, visiting support help links on firestorm or secondlife's website, visiting the marketplace, and viewing youtube links. Beyond that if someone needs to visit additional domains, they need to add them to the allowed filter list. Then if someone were to attempt to hit them with a malicious link, it wouldn't work by default. I think this would be a quick and efficient way to fix the problem for the most users. I understand this would make things more difficult for any url not on the list, but people could just display those urls as plaintext and users could copy and paste them if they truly want to visit them. And, in this way, they wouldn't be concealed by a malicious clickable link. And, any links added to the filtering allow list would become clickable if desired. A checkbox which is on by default, could be provided for unchecking to turn off the security feature. But, it should be on default for all users, unless the user chose not to use it. With a warning that pops up when attempting to uncheck explaining why that might not be a great idea that they could then ignore and even "don't show me this warning again."

I would like to address the issue of blocked members trying to get your attention with still being able to pay you. I have a person I blocked who pays me 1L trying to get my attention. If a person is blocked they should not be able to send 1L increments, it's still harassment.

Currently if you receive a message while offline and it gets redirected to email, the subject only says "Message From Second Life". I have my main account and also shop alt using same email, and I can't tell which one received the message. Changing the subject to "Message From Second Life - To <avatar name>" would be quite handy. Or even better "Message From Second Life - From <Avatar name> To <avatar name>" as that would allow setting up more complex mail sorting rules etc.

When replying to an IM when offline using email. A URL and extra information is added to the returned IM received if you simply use "reply". This often confuses the recipient who tries to click on the URL - and the message is noisy in content.
